Earthly is a Christchurch landscape design, build and garden-care practice created to keep the original idea present from the first conversation through the years that follow.
Sam trained in landscape architecture and began behind a desk, but the gap between drawing a landscape and seeing it properly realised never sat comfortably. Earthly was built around closing that gap.
Clients are not passed from a salesperson to a designer and then to an unrelated build crew. Sam stays close enough to understand why each decision was made and practical enough to adjust when the site reveals something new.
01
Listen before drawing
Start with the client, the architecture and the real conditions of the site.
02
Design what can be built well
Treat budget, materials, access, levels and maintenance as design inputs.
03
Stay responsible for the result
Keep the original intent present as work moves from paper into the ground.
04
Let the landscape mature
Choose materials and planting for how they weather, grow and belong over time.

A first conversation is enough to understand the site, the stage and whether Earthly is the right fit.
